Prime seats

We had a great view of the lunar eclipse last night. We weren't able to stay up late enough (it started at 10:50 PM or so and full eclipse was at 11:52PM), so we set an alarm and got back up. I almost didn't get out of bed, as I could hear it was raining, but as usual the rain passed quickly and we did manage to have some good views of the orange moon just before and during the full eclipse. It was really amazing. Worth getting out of bed for, I must say.

B had mentioned the interesting idea of how frightening such and eclipse would be if you didn't know the science of it. If you believed that the moon gave off its own light, what would you think when the full moon gradually turned orange over the course of an hour or two? That couldn't possibly have been a good omen.

This photo was taken by a photographer on Molokai. I'm trying to give proper attribution, but I only know his flicker id name "Taiger808," so click on the photo to link to his page.
