Nothin' but blue skies...

There is, allegedly, a bad character approaching. Goes by code name "Flossie." (This name is obviously chosen for the sake of irony. I mean, how could "Flossie" possibly hurt anyone? I just picture her, standing there in the paddock, chewing up the daisies...)

So it's a beautiful day still, by the looks of it. Sunny with blue skies. The only thing that makes you know something is afoot is that the winds have been odd. Not quite the usual angle and those clouds over yonder are changing faster than I've ever seen...

I think it may all just be a conspiracy for the stores to move all their bottled water, toilet paper, and spam backstocks.

Anyway, the "forecast" is that we will get wind and rain, but that storm will miss us for the most part. So as long as good ol' Flossie stays on course, we're all good. If not, we easily have enough spam, water, and t.p. for a couple of days.

P.S. And I forgot to mention that the Big Island, which will be getting the worst of the storm this afternoon, also had an earthquake last night. Not much happened, but it still doesn't seem fair!

Apparently not everyone has such benign associations with the name Flossie.

DON remarked: The woman who lived next to us when growing up ... was called Flossie and she was also a substitute teacher that we occasionally got. Everyone I knew was worried about her and if we knew "Flossie was coming" we were indeed fearful for our lives.
