3rd in the whole world!!

My dad's chorus, Sound of the Rockies, got third place in the international competition!!! They have tried for years and never gotten higher than sixth (medals go to fifth place) and this year they jumped up to third. These guys have all worked so hard and it shows. The top three choruses were all really amazing. All three of the top choruses gave us goosebumps with their final tags.

We saw the finals (these choruses have all won their district competitions already to get here), which consisted of 31 choruses. Competition went from 11 AM to 11 PM. And like 9,000 or 10,000 people go to these conventions. It was totally epic.

Here's my dad pinning on his hard-earned medal and then with me. (Do I look proud of my daddy or what?)

And how good were our seats? Well, here's a pic of me and my sister watching the show. As if a mile high wasn't high enough. (There were oxygen masks under our seats. I swear!)

If you are at all interested, while my dad's chorus doesn't seem to have any video clips online (I've lodged a formal, whiny complaint), you can see the first place chorus's performance(s) on YouTube. This is the second song in their set. (And if you enjoy that, you might enjoy their quartet, OC Times, performing their silver medal set.)

Congrats to Frog Dad!

I must mention that although you do look proud, the most interesting feature in the pic is your hair - longer than mine for the first time. :)

Yes, well, I didn't want to say anything, but my hair actually got fourth place...

Wait a minute. If he's "Frog Dad," does that make me a frog?

Linda: Loved your "review" of the show! It only made me sadder that I wasn't there. No matter how much we love barbershop, I can't see us gong much father than Denver to attend the International. Glad you and Sara made it -- thanks for the unbiased review.

Well, I've seen you jumpy and green but not at the same time...

MPCC: sorry you couldn't be there. We were thinking of you.

mirm: hopefully more often jumpy than green!
