Sapo verde to me

I had a pretty amazing birthday this year. First, I got an early birthday party from my family when we were in Portland. Then, the organization I work for had their annual party scheduled for my birthday so I pretended it was a party for me (I did get a birthday lei from my colleagues), and at the party I won a round-trip airfare to the Mainland. Pretty nice. I've gotten many thoughtful, lovely, and tasty gifts. This image is of my most special gift that B and I picked up this afternoon. It is one of my favorite birds we see around the apartment, the japanese white eye, painted by Gary Kato. We have a gallery here in the valley that features many local artists (Sister and her husband bought gyotaku prints there on their visit) and I've admired this artist's little paintings of neighborhood birds since we first saw them.
