Leaving the house at this time of year requires either a sackful of accessories for all potential weather conditions or a leap of faith. Walking to my office -- wearing sunglasses, carrying my umbrella, and wearing knee-high boots (which are perfectly reasonable in the air-conditioned office, but also good when it's raining. When you wear slippers in the rain, your feet get muddy and they kick mud up onto to your legs/skirt/pants) -- I found myself feeling climatically and wardrobally schizophrenic. It's loads better than last year at this time, when we had rain all day every day for months. No sunglasses necessary. People actually were getting a little pale...
